Dianne & Connie's Birds is a Mother/Daughter operation located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania... Lancaster is well known as "Amish Country". 

We are small hobby breeders who specialize in only four kinds of birds in our closed aviary.  We have mutation green cheek conures, crimson bellied conures, pacific parrotlets, and lineolated parakeets.  We do occasionally buy birds out of the nest from reputable breeders to handfeed and wean out for people who are looking for that special pet. 

Our babies are pulled from the nest between 10 and 14 days of age and handfed using Zupreem handfeeding formula.  They are well socialized and handled by many people including children.  (Dianne has seven grandchildren including Connie's four children.)  As they are weaning they are offered many different foods including pellets, seed, homemade birdie breads, millet and fresh veggies and fruits daily.  All of our birds--babies, pets and breeders--are on this varied diet and they do get fresh foods daily even if they don't have babies in the nestbox at the time.  We also use full spectrum lighting (from FeatherBrite, see our links section for their website and information) on each of our cages--babies, pets and breeders.  Through research, and from seeing it first hand, we see how important it is for the birds.  You can really see a difference in the brighter coloring and the overall health of birds by using the full spectrum lighting for them. 

Please note that we are a smoke free home and very much prefer that our birds go to smoke free homes.  We do offer much information and support to families who adopt our babies.  Feel free to keep in touch via email or phone whenever you have any questions.  We also ask that if you do adopt one of our babies and find that in the future, for whatever reason, you can no longer provide a home for the bird, that you contact us and let us help find a new home for the bird.  We really don't want any of our babies to end up in rescue programs. We try to be sure that you will be providing a good home for them by answering all your questions before taking them home with you, and by being there via email and phone for you after you do get them to your home. 


Feel free to drop us an email to see when we have available babies for you to come visit.  Since we are a closed aviary, we aren't open except by appointment.  We prefer not to ship our babies, but on occasion we will ship from Harrisburg International Airport (MDT) using Delta's Pet First Program.  Since it is a nice drive through Amish Country, many people prefer to come visit us.  Hopefully we will get to meet you soon.
